David Adkins has served in many different capacities through the years. He left his hometown of Houston after high school and served in the U.S. Air Force where he was a firefighter. After graduating from Basic Training and the Department of Defense Fire Academy, he was stationed at Kirtland AFB where he served for four years. He was called on during “Operation Desert Shield” to serve overseas in the Middle East where he earned the Air Force Achievement Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal. After four years of distinguished service to our country, David decided to call Albuquerque his home.
Since leaving the US Air Force, David has started and continues to operate several businesses in the Albuquerque area. He employs over two hundred people in the metro area, creating economic growth for the region. One of his businesses recently was recognized as one of the “Top Ten Best Places to Work in New Mexico”. His ability to make a payroll and balance the books in a responsible manner reflects how he will represent us in Santa Fe.
Faith is an important part of David’s life and his moral compass is derived from this dedication. He has served in many roles throughout the years at four different churches and is currently the Executive Pastor at New Covenant Church, guiding the ministries, day to day operations and leading multiple international and local outreach teams to help those who are most vulnerable. These outreaches include several international trips to aid children’s orphanages in Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Russia, and the Middle East, as well as working with local homeless outreaches and lower income schools here in Albuquerque.
Along with his dedication to his faith, David’s most important focus is his family. David and his wife of 18 years, Anna, have raised their two children, Abigail and Benjamin, on Albuquerque’s west side. David and Anna have been involved in their kids’ activities including AYSO Soccer and Paradise Hills Little League Baseball and Softball.
Along with operating his small businesses, caring for his family, and his dedication to his church, David has held several leadership roles in our community. He has served as a Chaplain for the Albuquerque Police Department, Chairman of the Albuquerque National Day of Prayer, member of the Police Oversight Commission, neighborhood association board of directors, a Major in the Civil Air Patrol, and is the current State Representative for House District 29.
